THIS WEEK’S FISHING! (in brief)
Bonds Lake and Milton Lake expert Chris Stott returned to the fishery for the first time for a year, and landed 28 carp in a day.
The Weybridge angler has had some huge hauls of fish, including 107 crucians on one occasion, and 41 carp from Bonds on another.
His latest catch from Bonds came half on Method feeder and half on pellet waggler.
The Old Lake bream are very catchable at the moment, as Simon Jackson discovered on a short visit from Spain, when he landed 17 to 6 lb on Method feeder.
And there is plenty of action to be had from the Old Lake carp, father and son Mick and Jack Warren sharing a 16-carp catch and two tench in a 24-hour session at the back of the island.
First-time visitor to Bury Hill Jason Galton made the day a memorable one with the capture of a 24 lb common.
And on Temple, Mick Warren was back in action, this time with a 25 lb 12 oz common in the “searing heat”.
Since then there has been a cooling of the weather and some rain that has freshened up the lakes, with the prospect of an average high of 21 degrees C this week. Monday should be a mixture of sunshine and cloud, with 20, cooling to 12 degrees overnight and a cloudier Tuesday of 19, with 15 overnight into a Wednesday of 23 but still with cloud, then 15 overnight into a cloudy Thursday of 22 with the chance of a shower in the evening, then 14 overnight into Friday and a bit more sunshine but also showers and 21, with 14 overnight into a fairly sunny Saturday and 21 again, with 12 overnight into a Sunday of 21. Winds should start as very light easterlies on Monday, becoming more westerly from Tuesday afternoon, but still light, still westerly and lightish on Wednesday, slightly stronger south-westerlies on Thursday, similar westerlies on Friday, becoming north-easterlies in the afternoon, and then light-to-moderate north-easterlies on Saturday, and light south-easterlies on Sunday. So, a comfortable week with no extremes of temperature by day or night expected, and no more than moderate winds, with some showers but largely dry with a good mix of sunshine and cloud.

OLD BURY HILL LAKE – GENERAL & BOAT FISHING

You can take your pick whether you want to catch numbers of bream or carp at the moment, as visitors have been showing this week.
Simon Jackson made the most of a short trip from Spain was a day of 17 bream to 6 lb from peg 50, on Method feeder with maggots or corn on the hook.
Father and son Mick and Jack Warren had a busy 24 hours on pegs 74 and 75, landing 16 carp to 15 lb, along with two tench, on single 18 mm Mainline Cell baits cast tight to the island.
And first-time visitor to the fishery Jason Galton was impressed with the lake, and even more impressed when he landed a 24 lb common, on a Mainline Spicy Crab boilie.
Visitor from Australia Dave Mead was also successful, landing three carp in an afternoon, on peg 53, the biggest a 20 lb 6 oz mirror, which was a new personal best, on 16 mm Mainline Peaches & Cream boilies in the margins.
And carp fishing newcomer Lilleymae Perry landed her third carp just two months after taking up fishing, the personal best 19 lb 3 oz mirror taking a Mainline Strawberry Zest boilie over a scattering of a few freebies and pellets on an evening session.

TEMPLE LAKE – CARP

Best of the fish reported from Temple this week was a 25 lb 12 oz common carp landed by Mick Warren, from peg 5, in “searing heat” at the start of his session, on Mainline Cell in a snowman presentation over a few freebies tight to the reeds of the island.

BONDS LAKE

Chris Stott has been a regular at the fishery, specialising in catching big numbers of carp from Bonds and huge hauls of crucians from Milton Lake.
After an absence of a year, he was back in action this week, and was as successful as ever, banking 28 carp on Saturday, from peg 11, the biggest 9 lb.
Half of his fish fell to Method feeder tight to the island and half to pellet waggler, feeding 3 mm pellets and fishing a banded 6 mm pellet on the hook.
On previous visits he has landed 107 crucians from Milton in June one year and 41 carp from Bonds in July of the same year, as well as a brace of Bonds 2 lb roach one autumn.

MILTON LAKE

Milton Lake is the place to head for if you want tench, bream, crucians and specimen roach, along with a chance of a bonus carp, either on waggler with a running line, or pole close in or up against the lily pads.
Fish can often be lined up with a little-and-often loosefeeding approach using small baits, and very small balls of groundbait, and are particularly active when the weather is warm.
