THIS WEEK’S FISHING! (in brief)
Bonds Lake continues to be a good bet for plenty of action with lively carp, whatever method you choose.
Last week we reported how some anglers have been targeting the lake’s roach with a lighter approach.
And this week there was a fine catch of nine carp to 9 lb on waggler and maggots, showing that trying something different can often bring success.
Two angling friends had a successful 48-hour session on the Old Lake, sharing a catch of 13 carp to 22 lb.
And another angling duo, who enjoyed success fishing from a boat the week before, came back for more last week, taking their carp total to 14 fish.
After recent mild, wet and windy weather, it looks like being the opposite this week, of largely dry, fairly sunny days with mostly light winds, but some chilly nights.
Monday is expected to be a mixture of sunshine and cloud and to have a high of 8 degrees C, falling to 4 overnight into Tuesday, which should be the same, but with 6 degrees overnight, into a cloudier Wednesday of 8, falling to 3 overnight into a similar Thursday of 5 degrees, with 2 overnight into an overcast Friday of 5, and 2 again overnight into Saturday, when the temperature should rise to 8 but bring with it the chance of a few showers, then 5 overnight into Sunday, which is also likely to be milder and wet. Winds are expected to start as moderate north-westerlies on Monday, becoming light south-easterlies on Tuesday and Wednesday, strengthening slightly and becoming more easterly on Thursday, lighter again on Friday and becoming more south-easterly on Saturday and then briefly stronger south-westerlies on Sunday, before back to cooler temperatures and south-easterlies on Monday week. So, a spell of settled, calm weather, but with some cold starts and a damp weekend.

OLD BURY HILL LAKE – GENERAL & BOAT FISHING

A two-day session produced 13 carp for Graham Bicknell and Noel Thomas, fishing around the back of the island at pegs 74 and 75.
Graham had eight carp to 17 lb, all of them mid-doubles, while Noel, from Walton, landed five to 22 lb, which was a common.
All of the fish fell for 15 mm Sticky Baits The Krill boilies wrapped in paste.
On the boats, Lee and Matt, from Sutton, returned for more action following their shared catch of nine carp the week before, and took their tally to 14.
Once again, they fished 15 mm Mainline Cell bottom baits, while loosefeeding pellets.

TEMPLE LAKE – CARP

A slower week for reported catches on Temple, but on milder days there should be a good chance of some action.

BONDS LAKE

Bonds is a popular choice among visitors, because of its track record for producing multiple runs, and also because a variety of tactics work, meaning visitors can fish in a way that they enjoy and still catch plenty of fish.
Pole or feeder, straight lead or waggler, or pellet waggler up in the water with baits fired over the top all work well, and the fish keep on the move, giving lots of anglers a slice of the action.

Pavel Waeff, from Staines, landed nine carp to 9 lb from peg 2 on Saturday, using a waggler and maggots, while feeding pellets, showing how carp find maggots hard to resist once the temperatures have fallen.

MILTON LAKE

Milton Lake is the place to head for if you want tench, bream, crucians and specimen roach, along with a chance of a bonus carp, either on waggler with a running line, or pole close in or up against the lily pads, where fish can often be lined up with a little-and-often loosefeeding approach using small baits.
