THIS WEEK’S FISHING! (in brief)
Temple Lake has hit a rich seam of form, producing four ‘twenties’ in a week, including famous fish Friar Tuck and The Parrot.
Lake regulars Ray Harding, Matt White and Jon Botting landed the heavyweights, which came among a run of ‘twenties’ as the action picked up after a quiet spell.
And action was certainly not in short supply on Bonds Lake, where successful regular Chris Stott banked 47 carp in a day, first on Method feeder and then on pellet waggler.
The Milton Lake tench are feeding as well as ever, friends Steve Robinson and Colin Sax sharing a catch of 29 sizeable fish during their visits.
And the Old Lake carp are also obliging, just ahead of the annual 24-hour carp match, to coincide with the Prudential RideLondon cycling event, which means closing the main road that gives access to the fishery next Sunday.
Andy Wiltshire landed 17 to 22 lb in 48 hours on peg 2, while another popular peg, 75, around the back of the island, gave four to 22 lb for Richard Bray on an overnighter, two pegs that anglers will be hoping to draw in the match, which takes over the Old Lake from 7pm this Saturday until 6pm on Sunday.
It’s looking like another week of hot weather with very little chance of rain as the heatwave shows no sign of ending, though there is the outside chance of a light shower next Saturday, after the Full Moon, which could give a welcome fresher feel leading into the 24-hour carp match. Monday looks set to be sunny and 27, before similar with a bit more cloud on Tuesday, the same and 28 on Wednesday, a much sunnier 27 on Thursday and the same with 29 for the Full Moon on Friday, the hottest day of the week, before a cloudier 26 on Saturday but a sunnier 27 on Sunday, with just the chance of a short, light shower at lunchtime on Saturday, then back up to 29 on Monday. Overnight values should average 16 or 17, and winds should become fishy south-westerlies on Monday and stay that way until the weekend, strengthening slightly from Wednesday onwards but turning more north-westerly on Saturday before easterly on Sunday and then back to southerlies.

OLD BURY HILL LAKE – GENERAL & BOAT FISHING

The Old Lake is in good form leading up to the 24-hour Pairs Carp Match this Sunday, producing plenty of fish, mostly upper doubles with a sprinkling of 20s.
Andy Wiltshire, from Reigate, did a 48-hour session on peg 2 and landed 17 to 22 lb on Urban Bait Nutcracker boilies, using PVA bags of free offerings and loosefed pellets.
And Richard Bray had four carp, also to 22 lb and also a mirror, on an overnighter at peg 75, on 22 mm NashBait Candy Crush boilies.
There are still tickets left for the Old Lake’s Pairs Carp Match this Saturday and Sunday, July 28 and 29, the draw for which will take place at 5pm on Saturday, with fishing from 7pm until 6pm on Sunday.
Entry costs £100 per pair, payable on booking, and if 12 teams take part, the winners will collect £300, with £150 for second and £100 for third, £50 going to the captor of the biggest fish. Optional pools of £25 will be available.
Pegs will be drawn as pairs of numbers, giving one favoured swim and one lesser one, as in past years, to ensure even distribution of hotspots. Pairs can decide which angler will fish which of the two swims drawn.

Best of the bream catches reported was 33 fish for Jacques Beecher, along with a 4 lb tench and a 14 lb carp, in an evening session from 4-8.30pm on pole or feeder.
Jacques was returning after a successful session last month, during which he caught 27 bream to 5 lb, on Method feeder and match tactics, fishing the same hours, and also landing a bonus personal best 18 lb 8 oz carp.

TEMPLE LAKE – CARP

Temple Lake came back with a bang, producing four ‘thirties’ over the past week, including famous fish Friar Tuck and The Parrot.
Ray Harding landed the heaviest, at 32 lb 5 oz, banking the mirror carp from peg 9 on 18 mm Mainline Cell bottom baits tight to the reeds.
Matt White had two ‘thirties’ in his four-fish catch on a 36-hour session, Friar Tuck at 32 lb 4 oz and a mirror carp of 30 lb 10 oz, along with the Long Common at 28 lb 10 oz and a 25 lb common, all from peg 1
Also landing four fish was Jon Botting, the Horsham angler banking The Parrot at 31 lb 4 oz, along with other mirrors of 25 lb 2 oz, 24 lb 4 oz and 22 lb 4 oz, from peg 11, on single 14 mm A2 Baits Creamy Toffee pop-ups over a bed of loosefeed.
José Garcia was in action on Temple after a successful visit to the Old Lake the week before, this time landing a 26 lb common from peg 6 on a home-made tiger nut boilie.
And Mark Constable, from Westcott, had a brace of ‘twenties’ on his visit, mirrors of 21 lb 11 oz and 20 lb 1 oz, from peg 11, casting 14 mm JHBaits Nuti–B offerings, with PVA bags of ten freebies, into open water.

BONDS LAKE

Chris Stott has had some impressive catches on Bonds and Milton Lake in the past, and this time it was on Bonds that he showed what can be achieved, when he landed 47 carp to 11 b 3 oz.
Weybridge angler Chris started on a Method feeder and 6 mm banded pellets cast tight to the island from peg 11, landing 37 carp.
He then switched to pellet waggler for another ten fish, also on pellets, feeding two pints mixed with Swim Stim groundbait, only packing up when the bale arm of his reel gave way under the strain of all the action.

MILTON LAKE

Milton Lake comes into its own at this time of year for tench, bream and crucians, along with a few bonus carp, either on waggler with a running line, or pole close in or up against the lily pads, where fish can often be lined up with a little-and-often loosefeeding approach.

Angling pals Steve Robinson and Colin Sax shared a catch of 29 tench, along with crucians and roach, on a range of baits at pegs 2 and 3.
Steve, who is tackle shop manager at Fine Line, in Tooting, had 18 tench and a roach on float fished worms, while Colin landed 11 tench to 4 lb with 13 crucians to 2 lb, along with rudd and roach, from the margins on corn over micro pellets.
And Milton Lake regular Alan Derbyshire, from Epsom, was also in action, landing 12 sizeable tench.
