Temple Lake Latest Catches week ending 26/8/18
Just one week after its last appearance, The Ghost has been banked again, but captor Jon Botting isn’t complaining, as he now needs only Nemo for the ‘full set’.
Jon’s fish was one of three ‘thirties’ landed this week, the Horsham angler getting the biggest, from peg 9 at 34 lb 4 oz, down 8 oz on Mark Ford’s 34 lb 12 oz capture the week before from peg 13.
Jon was on a 48-hour session, during which he had three carp, the others being mirrors of 21 lb and 19 lb, on single 14 mm A2 Baits Creamy Toffee pop-ups over particles.
Also landing a ‘thirty’ was Aaron Warner, from Carshalton, who had a 32 lb 4 oz mirror and commons of 28 lb 8 oz and 19 lb during a three-day session at peg 15, on single 18 mm Mainline Cell bottom baits.
And Terry Wood also had three fish, all of them commons, at 30 lb, 25 lb and 23 lb 6 oz, from peg 10, on single 15 mm CC Moore Live System boilies with a small amount of stick mix and a few freebies.
Alan Robinson, from Sutton, was also in action, with a 24 lb mirror from peg 2 on a Mainline The Link pop-up.
And Mark Constable added a 20 lb scaly mirror to his tally, on an overnighter at peg 3, with an early morning fish on a 12 mm JHBaits Nuti-B pop-up over 14 mm Nuti-B freebies.
Two anglers whose catches we reported last week have sent in pictures, which are posted on this page.
They are Joe Holdsworth with a 31 lb 5 oz mirror, a 27 lb 8 oz common and a 24 lb mirror, from peg 15, in a three-day session, all of them by casting to showing fish.
The ‘24’ was on a critically balanced 15 mm Cell snowman with a small mesh bag of chopped baits and ten whole ones scattered in the area, the ‘thirty’ on an 18-inch zig rig in 3 ft of water with a 12 mm yellow pop-up, and the ’27-8’ on a Sticky Baits Manilla wafter and a small stick of Manilla.
Joe commented: “Such a fantastic venue, with superb, hard-fighting fish. Can’t wait to get back there.”
And Mark Gallop has sent a pic of the pristine common of exactly 30 lb that he caught from a gravel patch at peg 4, on an Urban Bait Strawberry Nutcracker wafter with a small PVA mesh bag and a handful of loosefed freebies.
Mark commented after landing his new English PB: “Absolutely made up and can’t wait to get back on Temple Lake.”
