Old Lake Latest Catches week ending 9/6/19
It’s a good time to target the Old Lake carp, with the weather a bit cooler and spawning not distracting them from feeding.
Joe Docherty, from Guildford, landed eight during a 36-hour visit at peg 2, the biggest an 18 lb mirror.
All of his fish fell to 12 mm Sticky Baits The Krill baits with a chod rig, over loose offerings, most of them in daylight in the hours before dark.
Father and son James and Riley McRobbie were also kept busy, landing nine carp during their 48-hour session, also at peg 2, where they landed fish to 20 lb 9 oz, benefiting from a change in the weather that switched the fish on and gave them eight on the second night.
Riley had three fish, including a new personal best of 16 lb, and they also had tench to 6 lb, on Mainline 20 mm Diamond Whites bottom baits, over matching 15 mm offerings, for a “cracking session”.
Bream angler Simon White, from Horley, was hoping to land 40 fish during his visit on Saturday, and he came close with 36 to 6 lb, swapping between pole and Method feeder at peg 32, casting 30 m out with double red maggot.
