Old Lake Latest Catches week ending 4/8/19
The bream fishing on the Old Lake is probably as good as it is likely to be all year, as Paul Baker proved when he landed 46 fish to 5 lb in a single session.
Paul, from Walthamstow, was fishing peg 33 with a big waggler and corn and double maggot hook baits over groundbait.
And the latest midweek match, Round Two of Mark Hathway’s league, was won by Malcolm Heaver with 82 lb 10 oz.
Malcolm was fishing peg 1 with a feeder cast long, and he had a next-peg battle with Mark Hathway on peg 2, Mark ending up with 79 lb 14 oz on feeder.
Third was Andy Ryan with 69 lb 8 oz from peg 37, ahead of another next-peg rival Nick Baxter, who landed 65 lb 4 oz from peg 36 on pole.
There is never anything guaranteed in fishing, but a good catch of bream from the Old Lake for anyone coming down to try their luck is about as certain as it gets in angling.
