Old Lake Latest Catches week ending 28/7/19
The Old Lake bream are known for their tolerance of extreme weather, as anglers who have broken a covering of ice to catch them in winter will testify.
And this week they proved that temperatures at the other extreme are also no deterrent to feeding.
Part of this is due to the oxygenation system in place at Bury Hill, which maintains a constant flow of water around the lake, keeping it fresh and the fish invigorated.
It took 71 lb 8 oz to win the latest midweek match, this time Tony Morrison finishing top, from peg 13.
He used a Method feeder cast to the island for his win, finishing ahead of Malcolm Heaver, on peg 16, with 46 lb 12 oz on groundbait feeder.
Micky Davies was third with 44 lb on pole and paste.
It’s a similar story with the carp, which have fed well for those who have ventured out this week.
Paul Jeffery and his fishing pal Paul Fletcher landed seven each, from pegs 74 and 75, both of them having a best of 18 lb.
The Epsom pair used 14 mm Monster Crab and Pineapple boilies and PVA bags, putting ten baits in each bag.
