Old Lake Latest Catches week ending 26/8/18
It’s often said that double-figure carp fight harder than ‘twenties’ and ‘thirties’ and Matthew Howe and Ben Hansell got the chance to find out when they landed 49 of up to 20 lb, the average 15 lb, during a 48-hour visit.
The High Wycombe pair fished pegs 2 and 3, using 16 and 20 mm Sticky Baits Manilla boilies, and also had a tench and two bream.
Also in action with a multiple carp catch was Claudiu Popa, from London, who landed nine to 17 lb from peg 2, fishing in open water with 15 mm UberBaits Krab & Pineapple boilies in a snowman presentation with small PVA bags of crumb and whole baits.
Among the bream catches, Ed Hammond, from Wallington, landed 42 on a pleasure session at peg 38, where Mark Hathway set a match record with 168 lb in August last year.
Ed also had two tench and four roach, alternating between a Hybrid feeder with a dumbbell pellet and corn, and 13-metre pole with soft pellets, catching steadily all day.
And Simon and Matt Harrison, from Bracknell, shared over 100 lb of bream on a pleasure session, keeping a tally of the rough weight of each fish as they landed it.
Simon had 63 lb on pole, and Matt 40 lb on cage feeder and double red maggot, the pair fishing on pegs 41 and 43.
