Old Lake Latest Catches week ending 24/3/19
The bream fishing continues to provide plenty of action, despite some frosty nights recently.
It took 61 lb to win the Andy Ryan Sunday Sweepstake, and yellow seems to be the colour to go for in terms of hook baits.
Andy drew peg 38, which is where Mark Hathway caught his 168 lb record the summer before last, and used a Method feeder in open water, with yellow 6 mm Sonubaits Band’um cylindrical boilies.
Runner-up was Norman Youldon with 37 lb, also on Method feeder, ahead of Andy Leaman, with 36 lb on pole or ’tip.
The Duke’s Head pub at Wallington contest, fished by 20 anglers, was won by Brian Spiking with 42 lb 11 oz of bream on pole, from peg 9.
On the carp front, John Taylor was kept busy during his session, landing a 23 lb 1 oz common and mirrors of 19 lb 3 oz and 18 lb from peg 11, on 18 mm Mainline Cell baits.
