Old Lake Latest Catches week ending 24/6/18
With each week that goes by the sport on the Old Lake has got better, and now carp and bream can be caught in huge numbers in the warm water prior to the full summer heat.
Specimen Carp Club member Kevin Oldcorn enjoyed a catch of 200 lb of carp during his latest session, his 11 fish weighing between 19 lb 12 oz and 14 lb (pictured here).
Kevin also landed seven tench to 6 lb and countless bream, fishing peg 75 and casting to the island as well as to mid-channel, with 20 mm Mainline Peaches & Cream boilies, using PVA bags.
Chris Chapman and his daughter, Evie, from Woking, had a successful night session at pegs 16 and 18, getting 16 takes and landing 15 carp, seven of them to Evie, including two ‘twenties’ and a personal best 21 lb 10 oz common, all on single 18 mm Mainline Cell bottom baits of free offerings in open water.
Lake regular Janusz Kansik, from Aylesbury, fished with friend Norbi and they had nine carp to 21 lb and seven tench to 6 lb, along with 14 bream, all on Mainline Peaches & Cream boilies, at pegs 2 and 3.
And Clint Edwards had five carp to 23 lb, which was a mirror, in a day session at peg 32 on the Long Bank, on 18 mm Cell cast close to the island.
On the bream front, Ian Burningham, from Chertsey, landed over 40 to over 5 lb, along with tench to 4 lb, fishing peg 9 on the Front Bank with pole and corn or soft hooker pellets.
The Faulkner’s contest was won by match organiser Tony Lane with 77 lb 11 oz from peg 9, which included four sizeable tench, all on 13m pole and Drennan 6 mm Yum Yums.
Runner-up was Dan Knight with 72 lb 1 oz from peg 10, on Method feeder and Bait-Tech 8 and 10 mm The Juice dumbell wafters.
Third was Richard Waples with 64 lb 15 oz of carp, tench and bream from peg 1, on 6 mm expander pellets over groundbait and micro pellets.
Lee Perry was fourth with 59 lb 10 oz, ahead of Mark Parrett on 57 lb 15 oz.
There were also good pleasure catches of bream from the Front Bank, making it the perfect place for anyone who wants lots of action from sizeable fish on a range of methods at a comfortable fishing range in the pleasant weather.
