Old Lake Latest Catches week ending 23/9/18
The recent windy weather got the Old Lake fish feeding, it taking 75 lb to win the midweek match, and up to 11 carp being landed by pleasure anglers.
Mark Hathway led the way in the Wednesday contest with 75 lb 8 oz of bream on feeder or pole at peg 2.
Second was Keith Hogg with 70 lb from peg 1, on cage feeder and maggots, ahead of Dave Johnson with 65 lb 4 oz on pole, and Norman Youldon with 50 lb on pole, the lowest weight being 25 lb.
On the carp scene, Mark Reynolds had a busy overnighter at peg 3, landing 11 carp to 18 lb, which was a mirror, on 15 and 18 mm Sticky Baits Bloodworm boilies over a scattering of free offerings to the far bank.
Hugh Bonser, from Leatherhead, also did an overnighter, and his five fish from peg 32 included a 20 lb 5 oz common, all on 15 mm Mainline Fusion boilies tight to the island over free offerings.
And Andrew Jones, from Wimbledon, landed four carp on a day session at peg 33, including two ‘twenties’, at 24 lb 4 oz and 20 lb 2 oz, both mirrors, along with commons to 16 lb.
Andrew was using 18 mm Nash Scopex Squid bottom baits in snowman presentations with pink buoyant corn on top in open water half way across.
