Old Lake Latest Catches week ending 19/8/18
Three anglers shared a memorable session around the back of the island, landing 30 carp between them up to 19 lb, including the distinctive ghostie at 14 lb 8 oz.
Stephen Spear, Andy Pitts and Tom Murphy, from Crawley, fished pegs 73, 74 and 75 for 48 hours, Stephen landing 14 doubles from peg 75, Tom 12 from peg 73 and Andy four from peg 74, along with tench.
Baits included 20 mm Sticky Baits The Krill or Manilla or Bloodworm, and they used PVA bags of crushed boilies to the far margin.
Another angler doing well is Kamil Maslach, who returned after last week’s 22 lb 10 oz mirror carp from peg 20 on Mainline Pineapple & Banana boilies to land a 28 lb 10 oz common this time, along with four other carp and a 4 lb tench.
He fished during the day on Sunday and also had a 24 lb 4 oz fish and one of 19 lb 14 oz from the Front Bank on single 18 mm and 20 mm Mainline Essential Cell and I.B. bottom baits.
Lee Goldsmith and Joe Hull, from Essex, shared 20 carp, the biggest a 26 lb common for Joe, while Lee had a 22 lb common and an 18 lb mirror, all on 20 mm krill boilies.
Josh Fergusson and his brother Dan shared 15 carp on a 36-hour visit at pegs 2 and 3, Dan landing nine to 14 lb 6 oz, on 18 mm boilies tipped with dumbbells, and finding that daytime produced best.
And Paul Baker, from Wallington, had seven carp between 12 and 19 lb on an overnighter at peg 12, on Dynamite Pineapple boilies.
