Milton Lake Latest Catches week ending 31/3/19
Milton Lake is the place to head for if you want tench, bream, crucians and specimen roach, along with a chance of a bonus carp, either on waggler with a running line, or pole close in or up against the lily pads, where fish can often be lined up with a little-and-often loosefeeding approach using small baits, especially now that the weather has become milder.
Alan Derbyshire, from Epsom, demonstrated that the crucian carp in Milton are on the feed by landing 30 of them, along with two tench and a few small fish of other species on 13-metre pole and single or double red maggot, feeding tiny balls of groundbait and dead maggots, at peg 2.
Dave Gowers, from Mitcham, was kept busy in midweek with five crucians to 1 lb 4 oz and five tench to 4 lb 8 oz, along with bream and a 1 lb roach, fishing peg 10, around the back of the island, using float fished maggots, casters and soft expander pellets.
And Harvey Porter, from Ashford, had crucians to 2 lb, tench to 3 lb and roach to 1 lb from peg 20, on waggler just a rod length out, with two maggots on a size 18 hook over loosefeed.
