Milton Lake Latest Catches week ending 15/1/17
Milton Lake is the place to try for a catch of prime roach, using a waggler on a running line or pole just a short distance out, close to the pads, where they can be lined up with a little-and-often loosefeeding approach. And in the mild spells there are crucians, tench and bream to be caught, along with occasional carp.
Milton regular Alan Derbyshire was successful despite the cold weather, managing a mixed bag of sizeable fish on 13-metre pole.
Alan fished peg 20 with double red maggot, and cupped in small balls of fine groundbait laced with maggots and chopped worm to land seven rudd of up to 1 lb and six sizeable perch to 1 lb 8 oz, along with small roach and perch.
And Ivan Morst used a light float and maggots over chopped worm at peg 26 for a catch of quality roach to 1 lb 7 oz and perch to just under 2 lb, along with two crucians.
