THIS WEEK’S FISHING! (in brief)
The Polish Anglers Association Christmas social event on the Old Lake on Sunday attracted 50 anglers for the private booking, for a day of food and fishing.
And among the fish landed was a zander measuring 72 cm, which is likely to weigh 10 lb.
The day was still in progress at the time of writing this, but more details are likely to follow.
Bonds Lake has also been fishing well, especially in the mild weather, giving anglers a chance to fish for carp and big roach and perch at the same time, especially with a pole.
Whatever your preference in terms of the weather, you are likely to get it at some stage this week, because there looks like being a bit of everything in the forecast, from sunny days with double-figure highs and frosty nights, to heavy rain and high winds, the weather alternating between dry and sunny and wet and mild from one day to the next, until Thursday’s Full Moon. Monday should provide lots of sunshine and a high of 7 degrees C, but the clear skies may mean temperatures fall to 2 overnight, despite cloud that is likely to make Tuesday a wet one, but with a high of 10, then dipping to 4 the next morning ahead of another sunny day on Wednesday, with a high of 8, but falling to 2 overnight into a wet Thursday of 9, with 5 overnight, but changing with the Full Moon into a very sunny Friday of 7, with 4 overnight into another sunny Saturday of 7, and 4 overnight into a fairly Sunday of 9 as the Full Moon takes control to maintain the bright but frosty pattern. Winds should start the week as strongish westerlies, becoming more north-westerly on Monday, but easing as the day goes on, becoming south-westerlies overnight into Tuesday and gathering strength to become strong until late evening, then falling to moderate on Wednesday and a little stronger on Thursday, still south-westerlies, and moderate westerlies on Friday and Saturday, and lighter south-westerlies on Sunday. So, a very changeable week of weather with no two days the same until the Full Moon exerts its influence.

OLD BURY HILL LAKE – GENERAL & BOAT FISHING
The lively south-westerly winds this week should stir up some action with the Old Lake carp and bream, and put colour in the water for those hoping to catch some zander.
The Polish Anglers Association social on Sunday was attended by some lure specialists, and among their catches was a fine zander of 72 cm, on the Front Bank.
A previous capture of a 74 cm zed at Bury Hill gave a weight of 11 lb 2 oz, so this fish was likely to be a little over 10 lb. More details to follow when they become available.
TEMPLE LAKE – CARP
A slower week for reported catches on Temple, but the strong south-westerly winds could well produce another flurry of action, for those looking for an opportunity in between the frosts, especially with daytime temperatures creeping into double figures.

BONDS LAKE
The carp are catchable in good numbers, on feeder or straight lead to the island margins or in open water on a pellet waggler, or down the edge on a pole.
And there are also roach and perch to be caught on pole or waggler, especially now that the carp don’t pounce on any bait in the water.
MILTON LAKE
Milton Lake is the place to head for if you want tench, bream, crucians and specimen roach, along with a chance of a bonus carp, either on waggler with a running line, or pole close in or up against the lily pads.
Fish can often be lined up with a little-and-often loosefeeding approach, using small baits and very small balls of groundbait, and are particularly active when the weather is mild.
