THIS WEEKS FISHING (IN BRIEF!)

Milton Lake is in fine form for quality fish of several species, as lake regular Alan Derbyshire showed on his latest visit.
The Epsom angler had 25 crucians, eight tench and three sizeable roach to 1 lb, along with a number of perch, as the fishery is coming into its own in the more settled weather.
Temple Lake is still ticking over, providing lake regular Clive Elson with a new personal best common of 30 lb 6 oz, along with a 16 lb mirror carp.
Good numbers of carp are being landed from the Old Lake as the date for the 24-hour Pairs Carp match approaches.
Up to nine fish per angler are being reported, and fish to 20 lb, with no one area of the lake favoured.
And the Old Lake bream are still hungry, a Wirehill Lake club match on the Front Bank being won with 69 lb 8 oz, the top three weights all being over 50 lb.
It looks like being a week of two halves coming up, with temperatures of 24 or 25 degrees C with lots of sunshine but easterly winds until Wednesday, when the winds look set to swing round to become south-westerlies, bringing more cloud but still good amounts of sunshine, and a cooler 19 or 20 degrees from Thursday until midway through the weekend. Monday and Tuesday look likely to be the sunniest days of the week, with little in the way of cloud expected and up to 25 degrees, but easterly winds that could be strong. Wednesday’s south-westerlies could also be strong, but delivering 23 and then 20 on Thursday and then 19 by Friday, with even the chance of a light shower on Friday at lunchtime, before a cloudy Saturday of 20 and the chance of rain, but a dry Sunday and 22. The winds look set to swing round again during Sunday to north-westerlies, bringing more showers and a cooler 19 degrees for Monday. Overnight values should be no lower than 12 degrees, and for the first half of the week could be as high as 18, on Tuesday night into Wednesday, and not much lower every night until Thursday night, when the cooling phase begins.

• The predator fishing season begins on October 1 and continues until March 14.

• Anglers are reminded that fishing on Temple and night fishing on the Old Lake is available exclusively to members of the Bury Hill Specimen Carp Club. Membership cards must be carried at all times when on the fishery, and be available to bailiffs when they carry out checks prior to the evening lock-up.

OLD BURY HILL LAKE – GENERAL & BOAT FISHING

With two weeks to go until the 24-hour Pairs Carp match, there are good numbers of fish being caught from different areas of the lake.
Dan Lucas had nine carp to 18 lb 15 oz on an overnighter at peg 34, casting tight to the island with boilies over loosefed free offerings.
And Bradley Butcher, from Clapham and a friend shared three fish, the best a 20 lb common, fishing pegs 2 and 3 with CC Moore Live System boilies tipped with white corn.
The Wiremill Lake club held a match on the Front Bank, and Steve Parker took the honours with 69 lb 8 oz from peg 13.
Steve Edwards was second with 56 lb 12 oz from peg 4, ahead of organizer Mike Bell with 55 lb 6 oz from peg 16, and Dave Marshall on 35 lb.
John Greenslade was fifth with 25 lb 4 oz from peg 11, and Roger Critchon sixth with 25 lb from peg 19.
There are still places for the 24-hour Pairs Carp match, fished by 12 teams, on Saturday and Sunday, July 29 and 30.
The draw will take place at 5pm on the Saturday, with fishing from 6pm until 6pm on the Sunday.
Entry costs £100 per pair, payable on booking, and if 12 teams take part, the winners will collect £300, with £150 for second and £100 for third. Optional pools of £25 will be available.

TEMPLE LAKE – CARP

Clive Elson achieved a personal best Temple Lake common with a fish of 30 lb 6 oz from peg 9, and he also had a 16 lb mirror.
Lake regular Clive was fishing open water with single 15 mm Mainline Cell wafters over half a kilo of boilies and pellets.

BONDS LAKE

Bonds regularly produces multiple catches of carp to double figures on a variety of methods, from pole to feeder and straight lead to waggler.

Most anglers are reporting multiple catches of carp on this ‘hungry’ water, where fish seem to come back more quickly from hot weather and spawning to feed confidently and produce plenty of action.

MILTON LAKE

Milton Lake is the place to try for a catch of prime roach, using a waggler on a running line or pole just a short distance out, close to the pads, where they can be lined up with a little-and-often loosefeeding approach. And in the mild spells there are crucians, tench and bream to be caught, along with occasional carp.

Lake regular Alan Derbyshire was in action once again, this time landing an impressive 25 crucians, eight tench, three sizeable roach to 1 lb, along with good numbers of perch.
Alan, from Epsom, fished an 11-metre pole and maggots or 4 mm expander pellets, cupping in 4 mm pellets and maggots, showing the sort of sport that is on offer to anyone who adopts the right approach.
