THIS WEEKS FISHING (IN BRIEF!)

Bonds Lake is producing some great sport for anglers looking for all-day action, using a variety of different methods.
Ed Hammond landed 25 carp, mainly on Method feeder, but he showed that they can also be caught on pole.
And the Old Lake carp are also feeding well, father and son Dan and Connor Lucas sharing a 16-fish haul on an overnighter, the biggest a 20 lb common to Dan.
It’s a great time to target the lake’s tench, with temperatures not too hot or too cold, and boat fishing regular Mark Pearson showed how productive it can be, with seven to 5 lb, along with carp to 16 lb and lots of bream.
Match weights are also good, a midweek contest on the Long Bank being won with 45 lb 2 oz, while a Milton Lake match was won with 39 lb of crucians and tench.
And Temple is still producing a few fish, Stephen Evenden landing two on his first session, the first just 20 minutes after casting out.
It looks like being a slightly warmer if cloudy week this week than of late, with the potential for 24 degrees C on Wednesday, and warm again for the weekend. There is likely to be a band of rain moving through on Sunday night into Monday morning, with 20 degrees for Monday and overcast conditions, but Tuesday should be warmer, at 23 degrees with higher cloud, and then a slightly brighter and warmer Wednesday, before more sunshine but back to 20 degrees on Thursday, similar on Friday and warmer, at 23, on Saturday and Sunday, and slightly cooler on Monday. Winds should be lightish to start the week, south-westerlies becoming south-easterlies overnight on Monday into Tuesday, but swinging back to the west on Wednesday evening and becoming stronger, with Thursday the windiest day, but then back to easterlies on Friday afternoon, and an almost windless Saturday before strengthening north-easterlies on Sunday and Monday. Overnight values should be well into double figures, especially early in the week, when 16 and 17 are likely on Monday into Tuesday and Tuesday into Wednesday, and 15 from Friday into Saturday, though getting chillier for the start of next week.

• The predator fishing season begins this Sunday, October 1 and continues until March 14.

• Anyone who fancies being part of the night syndicate of anglers who are allowed to fish Temple and the Old Lake after dark for a £50 joining fee will be interested to hear that there are places available. To apply, get in touch with the office on 01306 883621.

• Anglers are reminded that fishing on Temple and night fishing on the Old Lake is available exclusively to members of the Bury Hill Specimen Carp Club. Membership cards must be carried at all times when on the fishery, and be available to bailiffs when they carry out checks prior to the evening lock-up.

OLD BURY HILL LAKE – GENERAL & BOAT FISHING

Good number of carp continue to be caught, especially to anglers on overnighters.
Father and son Dan and Connor Lucas shared a catch of 16 carp to 20 lb from pegs 74 and 75, the largest being a common that fell to Dan, and all taking Mainline Cell boilies over loose offerings.
And the boats are a good bet at present, especially with the tench and bream feeding so well.
Boat regular Mark Pearson, from Addington, fished in the Jungle to catch seven tench to 5 lb, two carp to 16 lb 2 oz and lots of bream to 4 lb on bread and maggot cocktails, feeding maggots, but he found that corn produced few bites.
A Fulwell angling club midweek contest on the Long Bank was won by Andy Garcia with 45 lb 2 oz of bream from peg 35 on pole and single or double red maggot.
Runner-up was Roger Littlewood with 27 lb 4 oz on pole from peg 39, ahead of Dave Fyfield with 24 lb 10 oz from peg 33.

TEMPLE LAKE – CARP

New member Stephen Evenden had a successful start to his Temple campaign, landing two fish on his first visit, the largest just 20 minutes after casting out.
Setting up at peg 10, he had a 22 lb common (see photo below) on a single Sticky Baits boilie, and then a 17 lb mirror the next morning, along with a run from another fish that slipped the hook, saying: “All in all, a great session.”

And Ray Harding had a 17 lb 4 oz mirror carp from peg 9 on a 12 mm Mainline Cell pop-up cast tight to the reeds.
Last week we reported that Brian Nicholls had landed a 24 lb 3 oz mirror carp from peg 3 on a bottom bait during a short daytime session. A picture of his fish is posted below.

BONDS LAKE

There’s the potential for some arm-aching action at the moment the way that the lake is fishing, and the carp are responding to a variety of methods.
Ed Hammond, from Wallington, landed 25 carp, mostly by casting a Method feeder tight to the island from peg 7, using yellow 8 mm Ringers Banded Allsorts pellets on the hook with micro pellets around the feeder, but he also had some on pole and 4 mm soft pellets.

MILTON LAKE

Milton Lake is the place to try for a catch of prime roach, using a waggler on a running line or pole just a short distance out, close to the pads, where they can be lined up with a little-and-often loosefeeding approach. And in the mild spells there are crucians, tench and bream to be caught, along with occasional carp.

The Dorking club match on Sunday was won by Mark Gillard with 39 lb of crucians and tench from peg 21 on 11m pole and 4 mm feed pellets, fishing expander pellets on the hook.
Runner-up was Dave Spear with 32 lb on pole from peg 17, ahead of Pete Growns with 25 lb 15 oz on pole and maggots over little balls of groundbait, and Steve Midgley with 21 lb from peg 19 on long pole and soft pellets.
