Temple Lake Latest Catches week ending 28/10/18
Zig rigs can be a great tactic to try in sunny weather at this time of year, when fish move up in the water to where the upper layers are being warmed by the sun, but often not right to the surface, if there is a chilly wind.
They may not want to drop down to the cold layer of water on the bottom to pick up baits on the lake bed, but a zig anchored a few feet below the surface could be right in front of them and difficult to ignore.
It’s rare to hear of a carp being caught on a zig at Temple, but it’s a tactic that could produce fish when others are struggling, especially now that the weather has divided the water into layers of warm and cold.
Luke Luff came up trumps when he fished a black foam zig at peg 11, in open water, when it produced a 36 lb 8 oz common for him, at a time when action on the lake was slow.
PLEASE NOTE: LEAD CORE IS BANNED ON BOTH TEMPLE AND THE OLD LAKE. PLEASE SEE KEN IN THE SHOP FOR FURTHER DETAILS.
