Dear Specimen Carp Member
We are delighted to invite you to re-join the Specimen Carp Membership for 2024, which is due for renewal on the 1st January.
Despite challenging increases in the fisheries estate overheads, with us all seeing higher household bills, we have decided NOT to increase membership fee’s or angling charges for 2024. As such, annual membership will remain at £100, which includes your first 24-hour session, whilst fishing charges will also stay unchanged, and can be viewed when renewing your membership.
You will be aware, that the fishery is now fully membership, and as such, totally closed for day tickets. Whilst the estate’s transition away from commercial use continues, you will notice that various works continue to take place to improve the angling infrastructure. These works include moving the fishery and estates machinery and equipment store to the wood barn behind Milton Lake, laying new services for a new shower and toilet block, which is sited to the side of the wood barn, installing new electric gates, fencing and surveillance cameras for increased security, and finally the resurfacing of the existing road to include additional passing places. Whilst these works continue, a temporary toilet is available by the wood barn.
Additionally, work on Temple Lake has seen the usual winter tidy up with trees and shrubs being cut back as necessary. We will also shortly be topping up the swims with fresh shingle, to ensure clean and free draining angling areas.
Regarding future stocking, Temple Lake has very recently seen the introduction of 12 stunning early 20’s stocked, which ranged in size from 21lb to 24lb. A mix of Commons, Mirrors, Linear and Fully Scaled, these fish were sourced from my good friend Viv Sheers at VS Fisheries. Renowned for their stunning looks and extraordinary growth rates, we look forward to monitoring the progress of these fish over the coming years.
In addition, we are also planning to stock several more carp in the coming months from the Old Lake, which you will be aware is now fully private.
