Old Lake Latest Catches week ending 26/5/19
Father and son Rob and George Ford shared a great Saturday afternoon’s sport, landing four personal bests, including three ‘twenties’.
Twelve-year-old George led the way with fish of 18 lb, 23 lb and 24 lb, all PBs, beating his dad’s best, and Rob had fish of 12 lb 19 lb and 21 lb.
The pair from Sutton were fishing pegs in the 40s on the Long Bank, using 18 mm boilies in open water.
Thirteen-year-old Joe Budd also got among the bigger fish, landing a 25 lb carp during a session with his dad, Neil, at peg 22 on the Front Bank, using 20 mm Mainline Essential I.B. boilies.
In terms of numbers of fish, Paul Downey, from Banstead, was kept busiest, landing nine carp to 18 lb during 48 hours on peg 3, using 18 mm Mainline Cell baits in the margins over just a few loose offerings, to keep the bream away.
And Stephen Spear had seven carp to 17 lb on a short overnighter on Saturday at peg 20, including a 10 lb 4 oz orange koi, on 16 mm Sticky Baits The Krill boilies with PVA bags of ten freebies.
Last week we reported how Richard Urquhart shared a catch of 34 carp to 23 lb with Paul Downey, on 18 mm Mainline Cell wafters over free offerings, at pegs 14 and 16, casting towards the island, and Richard has sent in a picture of one of the best fish.
