Temple Lake Latest Catches week ending 24/5/20
Darren Eastwood won’t forget his first fish from Temple, because the 36 lb 7 oz carp may be the biggest common in the lake.
Darren was hoping to beat his UK PB of 29 lb 4 oz that had stood for six years when the fish, identified as The Box Common, picked up his Sticky Baits Manilla offering.
As Darren said: “What a corker!”
The biggest recent common was at the end of February, a 34 lb 2 oz fish by Matt White, and the only bigger one recorded than the latest was a 36 lb 8 oz to Luke Luff in October 2018.
Simon Longhurst had a 35 lb 2 oz in 2013, Chris Bailey a 36 lb in 2016, Mark Constable a 35 lb 9 oz in September 2018, Barry Mogg a 35 lb 9 oz last May, and James Whitmore The Silver Common at 35 lb last April.
Also in action were Jason VanArkadie with a 27 lb common on Saturday week, and Mick Warren with a 22 lb 8 oz common from peg 5 on Tuesday, the final morning of a two-day session, on a Mainline Cell snowman over a few freebies tight to the island reeds.
PLEASE NOTE: LEAD CORE IS BANNED ON BOTH TEMPLE AND THE OLD LAKE. PLEASE SEE KEN IN THE SHOP FOR FURTHER DETAILS.
