RULES

Our rules exist to safeguard our fish stocks and ensure you have an enjoyable trip to Old Bury Hill. Please read these rules before you fish, as failure to observe the rules or acting in any way which interferes with others’ enjoyment or use of the lakes, will result in the offender being immediately removed and banned from the fishery.

You are reminded that you should be in possession of a valid EA Rod License before starting to fish both day and yearly licenses are available from the shop.

FISHERY RULES

  1. There is no access to the fishery before the arrival of the bailiff please refer to the fishery’s opening times
  2. There is no fishing outside of the permitted times - strictly no night fishing
  3. Access is only permitted to the public areas please do not climb gates or trespass
  4. Fish only from the platforms provided please do not fish between swims
  5. All nets must be dipped before starting to fish dip tanks are located at each lake
  6. All fish must be returned to the water immediately do not use keepnets or sacks
  7. When returning fish to the water, you must use a sling, zipped unhooking mat or landing net regardless of the distance being carried
  8. Use only barbless hooks barbed hooks are strictly banned
  9. All forms of fixed lead are banned
  10. Method feeders are banned
  11. Rods are not to be left unattended at any time or for any reason
  12. Please be considerate when using buzzers; please turn the sound down as noise travels
  13. Mobile telephone ringing tone volumes should also be kept to minimum and ideally turned on to vibrate
  14. You must be in possession of an unhooking mat for all forms of fishing, a general mat is available from the shop at the special price of £9.99 (RRP £12.50)
  15. All fish being photographed must be held over an unhooking mat at all times - photographs should be taken kneeling down under no circumstances should you hold fish standing up
  16. Fish must be weighed using a sling, zipped unhooking mat or landing net.
  17. Particle baits are banned with the exception of sweet corn, hemp & carp pellet the use of cat and dog food is not allowed
  18. Take all litter, discarded line and unused bait home or place in the waste bins provided by the boathouse and in the car park.
  19. Do not cut or otherwise damage bank-side vegetation
  20. Do not disturb wildlife please advise a member of staff as soon as possible should any wildlife become hurt or injured, hooked or entangled with line, or if line becomes snagged on trees or bushes or on any underwater snag during your visit in order that this can be immediately removed
  21. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times you must clean up after them
  22. Do not light any fires and do not burn the grass when using any form of cooking equipment
  23. The use of BBQ's is strictly banned
  24. Toilets are available close to the lake; please use them
  25. Alcohol is not to be brought onto the fishery
  26. Catch reports and photographs of any notable fish caught would be appreciated for our website and notice board

  FISHERY REPORTS
Bream and carp catches resist weeks downpour! - 13 July 2008
Despite some pretty grim weather, all lakes fished reasonably well with the Old Lake seeing some good bags of bream and carp reported regardless of the weather whilst the two smaller lakes also saw some reasonable action. Picture shows bailiff Eric Bailey rushed off his feet between customers...
