Wow - 16 thirties and still counting! - 23 06 2009

With 30 thirties already banked on Temple since the end of February, no one thought that sport could get any better, but it just has! The May bank holiday weekend saw 16 thirties caught on Temple, which included a new lake record, a stunning mirror weighing 38lb 7oz.
Topped by a NEW TEMPLE RECORD, Temple guru Sean Howard had an incredible session on Temple over the weekend catching a 4 thirties and 3 twenties with 3 of his thirties coming in a hectic 6 hour period on Sunday. Fishing swim 13, Sean fished his trademark glugged corn tight to the island margins catching mirrors weighing 38lb 7oz, 32lb 10oz, 31lb 10oz and 30lb 8oz, 27lb 8oz, 24lb 8oz and 20lb 6oz as well as common’s weighing 22lb and 26lb. Sean’s big mirror weighing 38lb 7oz, which previously equaled the lake record with “The Ghost” at 38lb 1oz, was also caught by Sean back in February.

Another very happy angler was Steve Puplett who caught 3 stunning fish during his session at the start of the weekend, two mirrors weighing 26lb 4oz and 29lb and a stunning mint 36lb common, which is at a new record weight. Fishing swim 13, Steve fished small boilies over pellet with a stick mix in a pva bag catching close to the island margins.

Just a short while into his session, Steve Davison managed a brace of thirties, a cracking 35lb 8oz linear and 31lb mirror from hot peg, swim 11. Fishing what must now be the “in” bait on Temple, critically balanced corn, Steve fished his baits tight to the island catching the big linear at night.

Another angler to catch a stunning thirty on Temple this week was regular Matt Plank who managed a 35lb 4oz mirror. Grabbing a quick session before the weekend crowds, Matt fished swim 13 fishing a double popped up glugged corn in conjunction with a stick mix. With the wind blowing hard into the corner, Matt cast to showing fish, which prompted a solid take within minutes. With fish rolling all over his baits, Matt also lost a fish on his next cast.  Matt commented; I caught the 35lb 4oz Mirror after a fantastic hard fight which upped my P.B by 1lb 7oz, well chuffed. Incidentally my P.B was also caught at Temple last May, one of the big Italians weighing 33lb 14oz.

Also catching doubles to 19lb 8oz, Ross caught on Mainline Cell 18mm boilies, which he fished close to the island. Fishing with Ross was Terry Brattle also from Morden, Surrey who also banked a stunning big Old Lake mirror weighing 28lb 6oz.
