Temple on FIRE!
Temple showed its true potential over the weekend producing 7 thirties and a number of big twenties as water temperatures soared. Amazingly, just three anglers shared the thirties action with regular Sean Howard having a ‘Red Letter Day’ bagging 4 thirties and two twenties during his 48 hour session, yes four thirties, whilst fellow angler John Carson managed two thirties during his session. Fishing a short day session, Dean Meakin was the other angler to bag a Temple biggie and a new PB with his thirty.
Splitting his fishing between swims 4, 10 and 11, Sean Howard caught his four Temple biggies during daylight hours from the margins, the island margins on swim 5 and the bank margins just behind the lilies on swims 10 and 11. With four big Temple mirrors gracing his net, Sean’s fish weighed in at 37lb 9oz, 31lb 12oz, 31lb 6oz and 30lb 6oz. Fishing popped up corn, which had been glugged in a fruit dip (thats as much information as I can get out of Sean), Sean fished his baits over a bed of hemp and pellet presenting his baits at differing depths between 2” and 5” off the bottom. This brings Sean’s total number of Temple thirties caught this year to seven, making him the ‘man to beat’ on Temple at present!
Carrying tag number 142152, Sean’s 37lb 9oz mirror was at a record weight being last reported on the 26/5/06 weighing 33lb 14oz. His 31lb 12oz mirror was also at a record weight and carries tag number 187990.
Fishing similar tactics to Sean, John Carson was the other angler to bag a brace of thirties from Temple over the weekend, two mirrors weighing 35lb 12oz and 30lb 9oz. Choosing swim 4 along the road bank, John also caught on popped up glugged corn over hemp and pellet, catching from the island margins. John commented, both fish were in immaculate condition with the 35lb 12oz being a new personal best.
Carrying tag number 183467, John’s big mirror is at a record weight having previously been caught at 30lb 6oz in May 2007.
Grabbing a short day session on Temple, Dean Meakin caught his first temple carp since joining in January and a new PB, a stunning 32lb 2oz mirror. Fishing the back bank where he fished swim 11, Dean fished what is now regarded as the ‘in-bait’ on Temple, popped up glugged corn, which he fished over loose fed hemp and corn. Dean fished his baits to the inside margins catching his first ever thirty around midday.
