Old Bury Hill by Dylan Fenton
Wind blew cold from the East
This is when the fish bite the least
My float was motionless on the lake
Maybe I should try some different bait
Casting out by a white lily flower
I waited for another hour
At last the float bobbed I had a nibble
Under it when at lightning speed
I lifted the rod and the fish ran for the reed
Up and down the lake it swam
As quick as a shark and as fat as a lamb
At last it came to my net
A great big carp and it splashed me wet
I weighed it now, it was a giant
It was the largest carp in the lake by a mile
We took a picture, for me to file
The biggest carp I have caught this year
I cherish the moment, will hold it dear.
Fishing is fun, you jump for joy
Much better than some Gameboy toy!
