Colder weather see's a run of BIG zeds! - 20 10 2011
Following a steady start to our predator season, with water temperatures starting to drop, we are now starting to see an increasing number of bigger zander showing with plenty of doubles reported in the last week which included four huge zander weighing over thirteen pounds, 13lbs 2oz, 13lbs 8oz, 13lbs 10oz and 13lbs 14oz.
Jake Curry aged just 14 had the session of a lifetime whilst under the watchful eye of angling guide Duncan Charman taking a fourteen fish haul that included eleven zander including the biggest recorded this season at 13lb 14oz along with two 15lb carp caught accidentally and an 11lb pike. Jake’s session fell on a day when the atmospheric pressure was dropping, mild conditions prevailed and an overcast sky. Jake fished resistance free running ledger set ups and small pieces of fish hair-rigged along side a size 8 Korum S3 hook.
Predator member Mick Dicks got the ball rolling with a fine 13lbs 10oz Zed which he caught on sardine section from the front bank whilst Bob Nicholls managed a zander weighing 13lbs 2oz which he caught from the long bank just before the fishery closed one evening on a sardine section, which is currently proving to be a top bait for the Zeds along with small roach dead baits.

Tackle shop manager Russ Evans also witnessed one angler catch his first ever zander weighing 13lbs 8oz from peg 22 on a roach dead bait, but we are waiting for the lucky angler to send in his catch report details and photos.
Father and son Simon and Sam Dodd enjoyed a six-fish predator session on their first outing for zander and pike season, landing two pike and four zander, the biggest the zander weighing 11 lb. The pair, from Egham, Surrey ledgered mackerel and roach sections with Sam landing one pike and three zander which included the eleven pounder with Simon catching one pike and one zander weighing 8lb.
Such is the zander action currently that even Carp Angler Dean Wallace caught a 12lb plus zander which took his fish based boilie during a busy carp catching session and with reports of plenty of other low doubles and high single figure zander and pike coming out, the predator season is starting to settle down to some amazing action now that the weather and water conditions are more akin to predator catches.
It is certainly worth keeping touch with our weekly latest news and fishery reports section on our website as the site is updated every week and we do encourage our visiting anglers to share with us their catch news and photos so we can post up on our site.
