BIG carp start to feed as weather improves. - 28 04 2010
With much improved weather over the past week or so, the carp fishing on both Temple and the Old Lake has seen a marked improvement in catches with six thirties reported in the last week alone.
Following on from his recent success on Temple when he caught a stunning 36lb mirror, Craig Pearman added yet another Temple lump to his specimen list with a cracking 36lb 11oz mirror. Fishing swim 2 on the road bank, Craig fished a single hi-vis pop up to the margins catching his first during day light hours.
Temple regular David Povey also got amongst the thirties this week catching a 34lb 8oz mirror, which was followed later in his session with a 23lb 8oz mirror. Fishing swim 14, David fished Mainline Cell boilies to the island margins in conjunction with a small single PVA bag filled with free offerings.
Harry Fairbank was the latest angler to score on Temple catching a mint 34lb common. Fishing shallow water swim 15, Harry caught his Temple PB on a Mainline Maple 8 boilie, which he fished to the island margins.
Lee Tait also had a good start to his season on Temple bagging not one, but two thirties during his session, a 33lb 5oz common and 30lb 6oz mirror. Fishing roadside swim 3, Lee bucked the trend and fished popped up corn to the margins catching over a bed of corn.
Another angler to get amongst the thirties on Temple this week was Temple regular Neil Malcomson. Fishing his favourite deep-water swim 10, Neil fished Tiger Nut boilies over a few free offerings catching a brace of mirrors weighing 32lb 11oz and 28lb 4oz.
Not to be outdone, the Old Lake also responded to the recent up turn in the weather producing plenty of fish including quite a few twenties and a stunning 30lb 9oz fully scaled mirror, which was caught by Lee Hill. Fishing peg 36 along the long bank, Lee fished two 18mm Icelandic Red boilies over a few free offerings just short of the island.
With water temperatures set to rise further, expect further bumper catches to follow.
