6 Thirties top BUMPER catches on Temple! - 14 07 2011
6 Thirties Top Bumper Carp Catches on Temple
Following a steady increase in carp catches over the past week or so, anglers on Temple this week have reported non stop action with 6 thirties reported over the past few days as well as 15 twenties.
Phil Cassidy led the field in terms of numbers this week catching six fish during a very busy 48 hour session which was topped by a stunning mirror weighing 32lb 3oz. Fishing 16mm Cell single boilies to the open water in front of peg 11, Phil from North London caught one common weighing 23lb 2oz and five mirrors weighing 24lb 5oz, 25lb 4oz, 26lb 6oz, 29lb and 32lb 3oz.
Whilst Phil has so far managed the most fish this week, two 35lb mirrors led the battle for the biggest fish with Temple regular Lee Nockels just pippin Chris Rutt’s 35lb mirror with a lovely 35lb 14oz mirror which was part of a three fish haul. However Chris went on to catch a second thirty during his 24-hour session, a 31lb 10oz common. Catching the big mirror first from peg 11 on a tiger nut boilie, Chris switched swims part way through his session catching the common on a cell boilie from peg 14. Both fish came from the island margins.
Also catching a mid thirty was Lee Nockels who also managed three further mirrors weighing 25lb, 24lb 14oz and 23lb. Fishing both peg 13 and peg 4, Lee caught his two smaller mirrors on Maple 8 boilies whilst his two biggest fish were caught on Cell boilies.
Fishing with Lee was Steve Willetts who also bagged a thirty in the shape of a 31lb 14oz mirror. Fishing peg 14, Steve also bagged a 29lb 14oz common with both of his fish falling to a Cell boilie fished to the margins.
Charlie Whitehorn was another angler to make the most of the recent action catching ‘Jelly’ a well known Temple common which tipped the scales at 30lb 4oz as well a 27lb mirror. Fishing peg 13, Charlie caught both of his fish on a homemade boilie from the island margins.
Bury Hill bailiff Lee Bacon also made the most of his recent overnight session catching a stunning two tone common weighing 28lb. Fishing Four Seasons 15mm bottom baits, Lee fished his hook bait over a scattering of 20 loose boilies.
As I write this catch update, Brian Nicholls is the latest angler to report catching a 22lb 3oz mirror, which Brian caught from peg 9 on a Cell boilie. Yet another angler to catch was David Bryant who caught a 20lb mirror from peg 12. Fishing an 18mm Mainline Fusion boilie, David also caught from the island margins.
