Temple produces 5 thirties with 3 thirties caught in just 4 hours by one lucky angler!
Temple regular, Sean Howard had an amazing session last weekend catching 3 thirties in just 4 hours, yes 4 hours. Fishing Saturday night and Sunday, Sean switched between swims 10 and 11 catching the two huge mirrors and a big common during Sunday afternoon. Fishing popped up corn over a small amount of hemp, pellet and corn, which Sean fed to the island and bank margins, Sean’s common weighed 32lb 9oz whilst the two big mirrors hit the scales at 31lb 10oz and 30lb 4oz. This latest catch brings the number of thirties caught by Sean from Temple this year to 15, which in itself is a great feat. Sean’s catch follows the capture of 27lb 6oz mirror and 26lb 2oz common, which Sean caught earlier in the week.
Another Angler to score a Temple thirty was Robert Gubby who caught a 35lb 8oz mirror during his 4-day session. Also caught during day light hours, Robert fished peg 13 placing his double popped up rubber corn close to the reed margins.
Whilst a lot of the action on Temple has been coming from the high swim numbers, regular Robin Ellis bucked the trend when he fished swim 5 and was rewarded with a stunning 33lb 12oz mirror which brought Robin’s total number of Temples thirties caught this year to 4. Robin’s successful method was half a Mainline boilie fished to the island margins over a few free offerings.
Other notable Temple catches this week included Olie Roberts 26lb 1oz mirror, Neil Durrants 25lb mirror and Darren Hazell’s 24lb 4oz mirror.
Whilst the Old Lake might lack the numbers of bigger fish Temple produces, it certainly makes up for by the shear numbers of fish caught, with anglers reporting catches of up to 18 fish in recent days with fish topping 26lb reported. Topping the list was Alex Winch who bagged a new PB in the shape of a 26lb 2oz mirror whilst regular John Hunt bagged 5 fish topped by a 25lb 8oz mirror. Topped by a 21lb 6oz common, Mark Savage had a very busy session catching 18 fish which Mark Hust managed 13 fish to just under twenty pound. See website this Sunday for fuller details.
