For those of us 'old school' anglers still using bank sticks, what is the prefered method of use on Bury Hill's platforms? Standard length bank sticks pushed through the gaps in the boards, or longer banksticks into the lake bed just at the side and/or front of the platform (and if this option, how long a bank stick is needed)?

hi, I just use a long bank stick that extends it only cost £7 out of a local tackle shop. I put it in front of the platform into the lake bed.

or normal sized banksticks fished by the side of the platforms with only your net on the platform.. thats what most of the carpers etc do

Thanks for the replies all. For anyone else pondering this same question, I went with my 46-88" bankstick which works great extended a little into the lakebed in front of the platforms on Milton.

Two sessions so far, mainly tench, couple of mirrors and one tiny roach, although my son had a very pretty small common. Nothing over 3lb (guestimate, awaiting new scales), but very enjoyable all the same.
