Punt Fishing

hi, I'm fishing this Sunday on the punt and bringing along a mate who hasn't fished for years. I was just wondering what would be the best way to set him up ie do I get him to fish along the bottom or just off it? I fished last week and caught two carp a 11lb and a 10lb, I caught them using pellet, shall I get him on that or something else?

Your tips would be brilliant and hopefully go along way to having a good days catching
