2010 HUGE STOCKING PROGRAMME NOW COMPLETE!
2010’s huge stocking program is now complete following the complete dredging of both Bonds and Milton Lakes. Old Bury Hill Lake has seen a large number of big tench stocked as well as a good number of bream and skimmers. Milton Lake has seen most of the carp removed which we have replaced with 500 small tench, over 3500 crucian and simply loads of quality roach, rudd, some gigantic perch as well as a few bream and skimmers. Bonds Lake has also seen a further stocking of small carp from Milton as well as a few roach, rudd and skimmers.

WATER TEMPERATURES
Cooler weather over the past couple of weeks has meant that water temperatures have settled around 18 degree’s while oxygen levels are generally sitting around the 60 to 70% mark, which is good for the time of year.
Outlook for the week ahead is a little better with bright sunny days forecast for the early part of the week and the odd showers forecast mid week.

THIS WEEKS FISHING!
With all the lakes pumped up with oxygen, the fishing on all the lakes has been excellent with some really tremendous catches reported.
The Old Lake has particularly fished well this week with plenty of bream and tench caught with one angler reporting an arm aching 300lb bag of bream to 7lb.
Bonds and Milton Lakes have also continued to fish well with plenty of carp being reported on Bonds with nets to 100lb whilst Milton’s huge stocks of tench and crucian have also kept anglers busy with nets to 60lb reported supported by some excellent silver fish which included roach and rudd to 2lb plus.
The carp have also responded to the increase in oxygen levels with anglers on both Temple and the Old Lake reporting increased action with another handful of thirties and a few twenties reported from Temple whilst the Old Lake again saw multi bags of up to a dozen fish caught which included a few nice twenties.

OLD BURY HILL LAKE – GENERAL & BOAT FISHING
Pumped up with the extra oxygen in the lake, the bream and tench fishing has been brilliant this week with one angler bagging over 300lb of bream in a short day.
With all areas producing bumper catches, the fish remain well spread out with both the deep, mid and shallow water swims all producing some excellent catches. With pole, float and feeder tactics all accounting for a few fish, pellet, paste and corn are still the key baits.
The jungle has also seen something of a revival in catches with boat anglers reporting some good bags of tench and bream with the odd carp all showing. With the autumn now approaching, the open water marks are also starting to fish produce with plenty of bream being caught on float and pellet from the area between the point of the island and entrance to the jungle.
This weeks catches…
Bury Hill regular Michael Head had a terrific days sport last Sunday catching 80 plus bream for well over 300lb. Fishing peg 4, Michael fished both a feeder and 13m pole alternating between paste, soft pellet and corn on the hook. With 30 plus bream over 5lb and the odd fish to 7lb, Michael was catching a fish a chuck at one point.

Bury Hill Open 20th August 2010
Vallence wins the day as bream go all finicky

The latest Bury Hill open on the Old Lake proved to be a tricky affair for the 16 competing anglers as the bream went all moody after some heavy downpours and drops in temperature the night before.
Last year’s spring festival winner Geoff Vallence drew peg 8 on the front bank and put together a decent bag of bream and skimmers mainly on the feeder and soft pellet for a match winning 40lbs 7oz. With bream up to and around 5lbs Geoff had 6lbs to spare over runner up Dave Johnson whose 34lbs 10oz of pole/feeder caught bream came from peg 10. Obviously the bream had shoaled up on the day as Steve Gardner on peg 6 took third place with 32lbs 11oz of bream on the long pole and pellet. The two end pegs were responsible for the next placed anglers as Harry Gibbs on peg 1 with 27lbs 15oz and Tony Barthomlew on peg 24 with 25lbs both taking section money.
The next open is on Wednesday 1st September on the long bank; however there are only a couple of pegs left so please be quick if you want to book in, Contact Russ or Ken on 01306 883621
Result: Top 6
1st Geoff Vallence Delcac 40-7-0
2nd Dave Johnson 34-10-0
3rd Steve Gardner Milo 32-11-0

OLD BURY HILL & TEMPLE LAKE – CARP
Pumped up with oxygen, anglers fishing Temple and the Old Lake experienced some good sport this week with the Old Lake producing some good multi bags of up to 20 plus carp which again included the odd twenty whilst Temple again saw a run of thirties supported by quite a few twenties.
For sheer numbers of fish, it was the Old Lake that again saw large numbers of fish banked with a couple of anglers reporting 20 plus fish bags. With the fish well spread out, the early pegs on the front bank and the island margins remained the key areas to target with running rigs and PVA bags clearly the way to go. With most good baits working well with old favorites such as Icelandic Red, Cell, Fusion, Maple 8 and KG1 giving anglers the best chance of a few fish, precise baiting was the key to success using a combination of pellet and loose boilies.
Whilst sport on Temple has been a little up and down, three thirties have been reported along with a few decent twenties. With all areas producing a few fish and with water levels now back pretty much back to normal, the margins continue to be the areas to target with most good baits catching, although Cell boilies are seemingly doing the business with PVA bags and pellet.
PLEASE NOTE: WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT, LEAD CORE IS BANNED ON BOTH TEMPLE AND THE OLD LAKE. PLEASE SEE RUSS OR KEN IN THE SHOP FOR FURTHER DETAILS.
This weeks catches…
Mike Dicks had a great result on Wednesday catching a stunning 35lb Temple mirror from swim 14. Fishing a DT Baits 12mm Pukka Fish and Green Beast boilie close to the end of the island channel, Mike caught over pellet and broken boilies.

Robin Ellis managed two thirties and two twenties during his latest sessions on Temple. Fishing swims on both the road bank and back bank, Robin fished his favored Cell boilies to the island margins in all cases catching mirrors weighing 30lb 8oz, 30lb 4oz and 24lb 2oz as well as a 20lb 4oz common.

Sean Howard also managed to wheedle out a thirty this week, a lovely 31lb mirror known as ‘The Sargent’. Fishing swim 10, Sean bucked the trend switching back to his ever-trusted glugged corn catching from the island margins.

Following a bit of a struggle to get amongst Temple’s fish, Dave Hatton was finally rewarded with a pretty 24lb common. Fishing swim 11 on the back bank, Dave fished a Cell boilie over loose fed pellet to secure his prize.
Turning to the Old Lake, Ed Mason had a frantic session banking 19 fish to just under twenty pounds. Fishing peg 2, Ed fished 15mm Icelandic Red baits which he tipped with a small pop up 2/3rds of the way across the lake catching steadily throughout his session.
Another angler to do well on the Old Lake this week was Mike Mills who bagged 11 fish from peg 30. Fishing Cell boilies to the island margins, Mike's best fish, a pretty common went 24lb also catching a 22lb mirror.

BONDS LAKE
Another brilliant weeks sport on the smaller lakes with both lakes producing some excellent weights.
Not surprisingly, with high oxygen levels, Bonds remained on form with anglers again reporting bags of carp to well over 100lb, which included fish to 12lb. With all swims producing, a medium size groundbait feeder to the island margins remains the most productive methods with pellet and small boilies being the best baits. Saying that, both pole and float tactics are also accounting for good number of fish to low doubles with pellet and corn over pellet accounting for some good bags from both the pole line and margin.
This weeks catches…
Simon Harris from Sutton had a very good days sport when he tackled peg 11 using an open feeder packed with Swim Stim groundbait with 6mm pellet on the hook. Fishing tight to the island margins, Simon caught 21 carp to 11lb for a good 150lb bag.
Nick Hazeldine who visits Bury Hill frequently from Spain, fished peg 6 catching 6 doubles and a nice single for 80lb. Nick fished a 14mm seafood boilie. Another angler to do well was Paul Trevellion from Sevenoaks, who also managed 50lb from peg 9 which he caught on halibut pellets

MILTON LAKE
Like Bonds, Milton also saw some great sport this week with shed loads of tench and crucian reported in nets to 70lb. With tench and crucian still making up the bulk of the catches, the silver fish are now starting to show in better which includes roach and rudd to over 2lb as well as the odd big perch. With pole and float tactics both working well, worm, pellet, paste and maggot all continue to catch with both the pole line and margins accounting for plenty of fish.
This weeks catches…
Edward Taylor from Horsham had a good days sport when he fished Milton mid week. Fishing peg 22, Edward fished a loaded waggler 2 rods out with large soft pellet on the hook catching tench to 3lb, crucian to 1lb 8oz and a few good roach and rudd for a good 70lb bag.
