CLUB & MATCH RULES to be read in conjunction with the Fishery Rules
On arrival, please report to the boathouse and let a member of staff know you have arrived
Collect a weigh mat for each set of scales you intend to use on the day
Please ensure that all anglers dip their landing nets and keepnets before fishing and that they do not put either into the water for at least 10 minutes after dipping. Net dip tanks are sited at the start of both the front and long bank on the Old Lake, on the roadway leading to the new lakes and in between Bonds and Milton lakes. (SVC and other diseases are rife at the present time, please help us to keep our fishery safe)
You are allowed a MAXIMUM of two 4 hour matches in any one day or one 5 hour match, please inform a member of staff of your intended weighing in times
Please ensure that all anglers use BARBLESS HOOKS
The fishery operates a 2 NET RULE. Only WEIGH SAFE nets, 8’ or over are to be used which are available for hire at £3 for one net and £5 for two
No fish over 5lb is to be retained in keepnets, please weigh and return all large fish immediately to the water and ensure that all other fish are held in separate nets regarding size. (This rule simply protects the smaller fish from getting damaged.)
All other fish to be weighed and returned every 4 hours, or sooner if estimated weight exceeds 50lbs. (Please ensure that this rule is strictly adhered to)
When weighing in, no one must lift their net out of the water until the scales are with them, they should then run the fish down the net whilst it remains in the water. Before transferring the fish from the net to the weighing basket/bag, place an unhooking mat under the weigh basket to protect any fish, which might accidentally fall onto the ground. If you intend to weigh the fish in two or even three stages, please return the net to the water between weigh-ins. (This is the most stressful time for the fish, please do your utmost to ensure that all fish are handled carefully)
Do not use ground bait on either Bonds or Milton Lakes from the 1st April until 1st October unless agreed with the fishery beforehand, and thereafter a maximum of 1 kilo per person. Also avoid excessive ground baiting on Old Bury Hill Lake, as this will only kill your swim and that of others.
Particle baits, with the exception of hemp, sweet corn and carp pellet, are not permitted at any time
Please do not throw leftover bait into the lakes
Ask all anglers to read our fishery rules, which are shown at the entrance.
Please ensure that all litter is picked up and taken home or placed in the bins provided. (Any club leaving litter WILL NOT BE WELCOME BACK)
Keep to paths and ask your members not to walk on the grass between swims
Lastly, please complete weigh sheet, this not only tells us how you have done, but also allows us to monitor the productivity of each swim in order that we can change features to help attract fish into the less productive areas
Over the coming months, we will be developing a series of 'CATCH MORE... Fact Sheets’ aimed at helping you increase your catches
