WATER TEMPERATURES
Despite some very heavy rain during the week, water temperatures hovered around 19 degree’s for most of the week ending the week at 19.2 degree’s whilst oxygen levels generally crept up helped by the heavy rain in the week with this mornings readings quite high at 57% which will be good for the fishing.
Outlook for the week ahead is similar to last week with temperatures sitting around the high teens or early twenties and the chance of the odd shower.

THIS WEEKS FISHING!
Despite some very heavy showers, which included a fair bit of thunder this week, the fishing has generally been pretty good with all lakes producing some reasonable catches.
The general fishing on the Old Lake has again simply been excellent with some good bags of bream reported again this week as well as quite a few tench and silver fish with boat anglers also finding some excellent sport from the Jungle area.
The carp fishing on the Old Lake has also been pretty good with a number of multi bags reported, which again included the odd fish to upper twenties. Whilst Temple also saw another good week with quite a few fish reported included a number of thirties to mid thirties.
Whilst the two smaller lakes have also fished pretty well, Milton seems to be by far the better at present with some very good mixed bags reported including tench, crucian and some clonking big roach. Whilst Bonds has seen some good fishing with bags to 60lb+ reported, it has fished a little harder this week owing to the colder weather.

OLD BURY HILL LAKE – GENERAL & BOAT FISHING
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS CURRENTLY A LIMIT ON THE AMOUNT OF GROUNDBAIT YOU CAN USE ON THE OLD LAKE, PLEASE ASK IN THE SHOP FOR DETAILS.
Another very good week on the Old Lake with bream dominating the catches. Whilst all banks are producing a few fish, the middle pegs on both the front and long banks are the current hot areas with anglers bagging up to 50 bream per session with some bags topping 200lb, which is excellent fishing for this time of year. The key to catching is currently small feeder packed with halibut groundbait fishing a hair rigged or lassoed 8mm pellet on the hook pinging a few pellets out little and often.
Boat anglers have also seen some good sport from the jungle with some excellent tench being reported as well as a few big bream and carp to mid doubles. With all areas fishing well, float fished pellet is again the most productive method although mini boilies, maggot and corn are also catching well.
This weeks catches
Tom Mills had a cracking day mid week when he fished peg 32 catching 37 bream to 6lb. Fishing a mid size open feeder packed with halibut ground bait, Tom caught on 8mm hair rigged pellet which he fished half way to the island pinging loose pellet over his hook bait little and often. Tom ended his session with close to 100lb.
Another angler to do well this week was local boy Mark Hathaway who grabbed a short evening session mid week to practice for this weekends match. Fishing a cage feeder, Mark fished 8mm and 11mm pellets on a hair rig to size 16 hook to land 30 plus bream to 5lb. Mark used a fluffy groundbait mix to keep the fish interested.
Recent match weights have also been pretty good on the Old Lake with some close matches fished over recent weeks. CESAS had a good match last week with top place going to A O’Brien who bagged 60lb 12oz of bream on the pole and pellet from peg 24. Second place went to G Simmons with 41lb 4oz of bream which he caught from peg 10 on the feeder fishing maggot and pellet whilst third place was grabbed by D Norris with 40lb 9oz which he caught from peg 9 on feeder and pellet.

OLD BURY HILL & TEMPLE LAKE – CARP
Despite the mixed weather, the carp fishing has again been pretty good this week with some good multi bags reported from the Old which included fish just shy of thirty whilst Temple again saw some excellent catches reported which again included a number of thirties.
Temple had another run of good run of fish this week which included the Ghost. With the fish coming from both banks, the shallow water areas seem to be fishing best with the island margins fishing particularly well. Tactics and baits remain much the same as in previous weeks with boilies and popped up corn both working well.
On the Old Lake, with the fish well spread throughout the lake, the shallow and mid water areas have probably fished the best this week with fish to 29lb reported. Tactics and baits remain much the same as in previous weeks with Icelandic Red boilies continuing to take a lot of beating although Fusion, KG1 and Cell boilies are also catching as will most good quality baits. Popped up corn and pop ups are also worth a go!
This weeks catches
Sean Howard led the field this week on Temple catching 3 fish just part way through his session. Fishing peg 6 along the road bank, Sean opted to fish popped up corn tight to the island margins catching Temple’s stunning Ghost weighing 34lb 2oz as well as a pretty common weighing 26lb 9oz and an 18lb 2oz mirror. Sean said “although the Ghost is down on previous weights owing to heavy spawning, it was in amazing condition”.

Following his recent successes on Temple, Steve Renyard popped down in the week to do a feature for Advanced Carp magazine. Fishing peg 6, Steve lost two fish before catching a cracking big linear weighing 31lb 12oz. You will be able to read Steve’s account of his session in September’s mag.

Russell Bryce had a good session on Temple the other week catching a stunning 29lb mirror from peg 11 on double popped up corn.

Dave Povey managed a stunning 26lb 9oz mirror during his session catching on popped up corn which he fished over a small amount of hemp to the point of the island from peg 13.

Another angler to catch was Rob Savage, fishing peg 10, Rob also fished popped up corn to the island catching a 23lb mirror.

Ricky Miller had a very good session in the week catching 11 fish to 24lb. Fishing the middle of the front bank, Ricky caught 8 mirrors and 3 commons from the open water just short of the island on 18mm Icelandic Red baits fished over a kilo of free offerings.
During a rare midweek overnight session on the old lake, Russ Evans had a nice mid double which was one of 5 carp caught during the 12 hour session, all fish came on Richworth KG1 boilies fished mid water from peg 13 on the front bank.

BONDS LAKE
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS CURRENTLY A GROUNDBAIT BAN ON BONDS LAKE.
A bit of a tough week on Bonds as the cold water put the fish down for a few days, although the better anglers still managed some reasonable catches with bags to 60lb reported. With all methods working, feeder tactics continue to dominate the catches with pellet and mini boilies accounting for good numbers of fish to just shy of 10lb. The secret is to fish tight to the island margins pinging loose pellet out singularly all the time.
This weeks catches
Terry Marshall had a good day in the week catching 20 odd carp to 9lb. Fishing peg 6, Terry fished a cage feeder to the point of the island catching from the very off bagging carp to 9lb on large pellet.

MILTON LAKE
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS CURRENTLY A GROUNDBAIT BAN ON MILTON LAKE.
Whilst Bonds has struggled with the influx of cold water over recent weeks, Milton has simply thrived with some excellent catches reported from all areas. With tench and crucian making up the bulk of the catches, the silver fish and in particular the roach and rudd have also shown well with fish to well over 2lb being reported.
With all areas fishing well, the margins are fishing particularly well at present with pole and float tactics both working. Whilst the best of the fishing has come from the 20’s and back bank, the road bank pegs have also produced some great fishing. Baits remain much the same as in previous weeks with 8m or 10mm soft pellet over small pellet working well along with hair rigged pellet and mini boilies whilst maggot, caster, worm and corn are also catching.
This weeks catches
16 year old Jason Fowler from Croydon had a very good session in the week catching 14 tench to 6lb, plus a couple of 5lb carp for a good 80lb bag. Jason fished an 8m pole catching on maggot from the open water.
Another angler to have a good day on Milton this week was Mike Rayment from Dartford Kent who had a days private tuition with Eric Bailey. Mikes email is printed below.
“I thought I'd drop a quick message to thank Eric for his time with me on the 16th July.  My wife had bought me a day's private angling tuition for my Birthday as I hadn't been fishing  for a few years.

What a great day…..

I caught more fish in that session than I had ever done before and all personal bests!!   Tench over 5lbs, Mirror and Common carp to nearly 6lb and a beautiful 1lb Roach.  Eric gave a lot of tips from different knots to use and setting up waggler and ledger rods. Patient and funny, he was great company and I am very grateful. I now have more confidence to go fishing with some good basic training behind me.
Thanks to Eric and thanks to Bury Hills too.”
