2010 HUGE STOCKING PROGRAMME NOW COMPLETE!
2010's huge stocking program is now complete following the complete dredging of both Bonds and Milton Lakes. Old Bury Hill Lake has seen a large number of big tench stocked as well as a good number of bream and skimmers. Milton Lake has seen most of the carp removed which we have replaced with 500 small tench, over 3500 crucian and simply loads of quality roach, rudd, some gigantic perch as well as a few bream and skimmers. Bonds Lake has also seen a further stocking of small carp from Milton as well as a few roach, rudd and skimmers.

WATER TEMPERATURES
Another cooler week with the odd shower which again made for some excellent fishing! Water temperatures were much the same as in previous weeks sitting around the early/mid twenties 21/24 degree's whilst oxygen levels have now settled with morning readings being around 40% to 50%, which is normal for this time of year with afternoon reading peaking at around 80/100%.
Outlook for the week ahead is much the same, staying cool and dry for the most part with temperatures sitting around the early twenties. There is also the chance of the odd shower mid week.

THIS WEEKS FISHING!
Whilst the weather did tend to make the fishing a little up and down at times, there has been some brilliant catches reported again this week with all the lakes generally fishing well.
As with any fishery, each lake tends to come on form at different times with the weather being a critical factor. This week saw Bonds bounce back to its old form with anglers reporting some really big bags of carp to low doubles. Milton Lake also saw another good week of catches, although high pressure during the middle part of the week did see the fishing slow for a day or two before bouncing back with anglers reporting bumper hauls of crucian, tench and mixed silvers.
The bream and tench on the Old Lake were again in an obliging mood with anglers reporting bags to 80/100lb, which included good numbers of tench. Recent matches have also fished well with nets to over 50lb reported.
With Temple and the Old Lake both on form last week, this week has again seen plenty of carp action on both lakes with a another couple of thirties reported from Temple and a cracking 31lb 8oz mirror from the Old Lake with both lakes seeing plenty of action from smaller fish.

OLD BURY HILL LAKE - GENERAL & BOAT FISHING
Another brilliant weeks action for the Old Lake with some good catches of bream reported with a few tench also showing. The cooler, overcast weather certainly put the fish in a feeding mood with all day action experienced by many.
With all banks producing some bumper catches, the fish were well spread out with even the deep-water swims producing some big weights. With methods and baits much the same as previous weeks, both the pole, float and feeder have are all accounted for some good catches with a variety of baits working on the day, although pellet and corn continue to be the top baits.
Whilst there are still plenty of fish down the jungle, boat anglers have started to catch some big bags of bream from the open water marks with the area between the point of the island and entrance to the jungle being particularly good for bream and a few tench with pellet and float tactics being the key to success.
This weeks catches…
BH regular Sean Mills had a really good day midweek bagging 27 bream to 6lb 7oz, 6 tench to 5lb and 20lb of skimmers for a bumper day. Fishing peg 11, midway down the front bank, Sean fished an open feeder packed full of groundbait and chopped corn and pellet catching on large 8mm pellets from 30mts out.
Another angler to do well on the Old Lake was Tim Thatcher who fished the top end of the long bank. Fishing a loaded waggler, 5 rods out, Tim fished small pellet on the hook catching skimmers, bream and 3 tench.

OLD BURY HILL & TEMPLE LAKE - CARP
Another good week for the carpers on both Temple and the Old Lake as the cooler weather continues. With both lakes fishing well, Temple again threw up a couple of thirties following last week's bumper hauls along with a few twenties. With all areas producing a few fish, most good baits are working with boilies continuing to fish well with Cell boilies in particular seemingly doing the business with PVA bags and pellet. However, pop ups, zig rigs and popped up corn have also accounted for a few fish.
Turning to the Old Lake, the island margins remain one of the key areas to target with PVA bags clearly the way to go. With most good baits working with old favorites such as Icelandic Red, Cell, Fusion, Maple 8 and KG1 giving anglers the edge, although Trigger has also accounted for quite a few fish this week!
PLEASE NOTE: WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT, LEAD CORE IS BANNED ON BOTH TEMPLE AND THE OLD LAKE. PLEASE SEE RUSS OR KEN IN THE SHOP FOR FURTHER DETAILS.
This weeks catches…
Tom Luke was the man to beat on the Old Lake this week catching a superb 31lb 8oz mirror as part of a two fish haul. Fishing peg 33, Tom fished a Nash Squid Scopex boilie 4m from the island margins over loose offerings.
John Morris had a cracking session early week catching 11 carp to 23lb. Fishing peg 3, John fished 20mm Cell boilies to the open water catching over a bed of pellet.
Following his three fish haul last week, Sean Howard returned to Temple this week catching a brace of commons weighing 25lb 5oz and 17lb 8oz. Fishing swim 12, Sean fished a chopped Cell boilie to the island margins.

Following his 4 fish haul as reported last week, Dave Povey ended his session adding the Ghost weighing 32lb 10oz and a 22lb mirror to his weekends catches. Fishing peg 10, all of Dave's fish fell to Cell boilies, which he fished to the island margins.

Another angler to add to last weeks catch was Barry O'Conner who added a 33lb linear to his brace of mirrors, which weighed 33lb 2oz and 25lb 5oz. All of Barry's fish fell to Cell and Tutti Frutti Mainline baits.
Mark Perry also managed a pretty 22lb mirror during his weekend session, fishing Cell boilies with small pva bags filled with loose offerings, Mark caught from the island margins in front of peg 12.

BONDS LAKE
Another brilliant week on Bonds, with all anglers reporting plenty of action with bags to well over 100lb reported by many.
With all areas continuing to fish well, feeder to the island margins still seems to be accounting for a lot of fish with pellet being the best bait. Saying that, both pole and float tactics are also accounting for good number of fish to low doubles with pellet and corn over pellet working well.
This weeks catches…
Dean Thomas and Andrew Stone, both from Camden, had a blinding day on Bonds last week catching 48 carp between them to 8lb. Fishing pegs 13 and 14, the pair both fished light carp gear close to the island catching on running ledger rigs and pva bags. The Successful bait was 14mm pellet with corn and pellet in the bags.
Local boy Andy Sherwell had a good day catching 23 carp to 10lb for a good 100lb bag. Fishing a small open feeder to the island packed with groundbait and pellet, Andy caught steadily all day on large soft pellet.
Bonds regular Paul Robb also had a good day catching a dozen or so fish on waggler and corn, which he fished to the margins.

MILTON LAKE
Milton again saw some brilliant action this week with anglers reporting plenty of mixed bags to 60/70lb with match weights to just short of 50lb, which included tench, crucian, roach, rudd, bream and perch. With pole and float tactics both continuing to work well, worm, pellet, paste and maggot all continue to catch with both the pole line and margins accounting for plenty of fish.
This weeks catches…
Jim Adams had a really good day mid week catching 20 crucian to 2lb, 8 tench to 4lb and loads of quality roach and rudd for a good 80lb bag. Fishing peg 20, Jim fished a loaded waggler to the margins catching on pellet and paste.

Hadley Angling Club 1st Aug 2010

Laney shows the way with a mixed bag of fish!
Milton Lake hosted Hadley Angling' latest club match and with the weather warm and overcast conditions could not have been any better as the lakes mixed species had a good feed to provide all the competitors with plenty of bites. The winning peg numbers were not supplied but with the whole lake fishing well the weights were well spread out.
Top rod on the day was Alan Laney who pole fished his way to success catching his fish on soft pellet and caster close in. With plenty of tench and crucians in the net Alan then switched his bait to caster up in the water and helped himself to around 20lbs of rudd for a final total of 41lbs 15oz. The burst of silvers made all the difference between winning and losing as Alan had just over 4lbs to spare over second placed Andy Gosland who decided to fish a feeder all day with sweetcorn hook bait and with bream, tench and crucians scaled a decent weight of 37lbs 8oz.
Russ Hackle was not far behind either with a level 37lbs, which consisted of a mixed bag, caught on close in pole tactics with maggots and soft pellets. With three other anglers all weighing in over 20lbs plus it was an enjoyable and close match enjoyed by all.
Result: Top 6
1st Alan Laney 41lbs 15oz
2nd Andy Gosland 37lbs 8oz
3rd Russ Hackle 37lbs 0oz
4th Alan Tunney 29lbs 4oz
5th Mehmet Kayim 28lbs 12oz
6th Shane Foster 24lbs 0oz

Bury Hill Open 4th August 2010
Milton Lake, 24 pegs Silvers Only

Good Scott, Bruce wins on tough day!
Low air pressure and stormy conditions made this latest Bury Hill midweek open a tough match, which was a shame as Milton Lake had been in sparkling form these past few months. With 24 anglers taking part it in the Silvers Only match this certainly was a match worth winning and when Bruce Scott drew peg 29 by the aerator he did not fancy his chances despite the organiser advising that quite a few fish tend to favour that part of the lake. With the fish in a very finicky mood, more so than normal, everyone was catching the odd fish which was the format for the whole match. Those that scaled right down on their terminal tackle and switched baits on a regular basis were the ones that kept a few fish coming to the net. After a slow start Bruce then started to put a few crucians and the odd tench together plus a few nice roach and rudd, while others were struggling mid match, peg 29 came alive with burst of action for Bruce who used pole and soft pellet to good effect. At the final weigh in his 31lbs 2oz mixed bag was good enough to take top place winning £140.00 in the process.
Further round the corner of the lake on peg 22 Andy Ryan after a slow start managed to tempt a few nice tench and crucians late on to come from nowhere to second spot. His long pole tactics next to the lily pads on soft pellet came good as put plenty of small stamp fish in the net to gain a nice little pick up on the day.
Bury Hill tackle shop manager Russ Evans had the pleasure of drawing noted peg 3 for the first time in a match but drew the peg on a day when the fish were not playing ball. However with 8 tench and a few crucians Russ managed to scale 21lbs 8oz for third place on the day. Changing his hook baits like soft pellet, corn, worm and double red maggot Russ managed to tempt some bonus tench into having a go and secure third.
On opposite peg 4 Terry Harrison caught on and off all match to put in a mixed bag for 18lbs 8oz and fourth.
In general the conditions played a big part in how the fish fed and when a big storm came crashing down on the proceedings late match with thunder and lightening it kind of confirmed that the atmospheric air change can switch the fish off overnight.
Result Top 6
1st Bruce Scott, Anglers Base 31-2-0
2nd Andy Ryan, KC Angling 22-8-0
3rd Russ Evans, NDP10 21-8-0
4th Terry Harrison, Dorking 18-8-0
5th Tony Barthomlew, Anchor Croydon 17-8-0
6th Neil Jakes, Hackbridge 17-4-0
