2010 HUGE STOCKING PROGRAMME NOW COMPLETE!

2010’s huge stocking program is now complete following the complete dredging of both Bonds and Milton Lakes. Old Bury Hill Lake has seen a large number of big tench stocked as well as a good number of bream and skimmers. Milton Lake has seen most of the carp removed which we have replaced with 500 small tench, over 3500 crucian and simply loads of quality roach, rudd, some gigantic perch as well as a few bream and skimmers. Bonds Lake has also seen a further stocking of small carp from Milton as well as a few roach, rudd and skimmers.

WATER TEMPERATURES

Generally a cooler week, with the odd shower amongst the sunshine. Water temperatures now seem to have settled around the early twenties 21/22 degree’s whilst oxygen levels continue to be a bit up and down with morning readings being around 40% to 50%, which is normal for this time of year.

Outlook for the week ahead is much the same, staying cool for the weekend with temperatures sitting around the early twenties but expected to increase to the mid/high twenties during the early part of next week!

THIS WEEKS FISHING!

Another brilliant weeks fishing on all the lakes as the cooler weather see’s the fish go on a FEEDING FRENZY!

With ton up bags being reported on all the lakes, the Old Lake again saw plenty of bream and tench action this week with both bank and boat anglers reporting bumper catches to well over 100lb with match weights close to 80lb. With individual fish to 7lb plus reported, all methods and baits have been catching.

Anglers also continued to find some terrific sport on Milton and Bonds Lakes this week with both lakes producing ton up hauls. Milton again saw good numbers of tench and crucian caught in nets to over 100lb, whilst Bonds also continued to provide great sport with pleasure bags of carp to over 100lb and match weights to 80lb reported.

The carp fishing on Temple and the Old Lake also picked up this week with another three thirties and quite a few twenties reported on Temple whilst anglers on the Old Lake reported some excellent multi bags of up to 20 fish.

OLD BURY HILL LAKE – GENERAL & BOAT FISHING

The continuing cool weather certainly helped the fishing again this week with pleasure anglers reporting some excellent bags of bream and tench to well over 100lb whilst last weekends match on the front bank was won with just short of 80lb, see report below.

With the fish feeding steadily throughout the day owing to the cooler conditions, all banks have fished well with the middle pegs on both the front and long banks fishing particularly well. With methods and baits much the same as last week, both the pole, float and feeder have are all accounting for some big catches with a variety of baits working on the day, although pellet and corn continue to be the top baits.

With loads of tench still sitting in the jungle, boat anglers have also enjoyed another week’s brilliant sport with the jungle still producing good numbers of tench and bream as well as a few carp to pellet and float tactics.
This weeks catches…

Bury Hill regular Ray Parker from Guildford had a brilliant days fishing mid week when he hauled out a good 2100lb of bream and tench. Choosing to fish shallow peg 2, Ray fished a 13m pole and 6mm Sensas expander pellet on the hook cupping in micro pellet. Ray finished his day with 33 bream to just under 6lb and 5 cracking tench, which were all around the 5lb mark.

Another angler to have a good day on the Old Lake this week was Dave Walker from Croydon. Fishing peg 42, Dave fished a 12m pole with soft pellet on the hook whilst feeding 4mm pellet to bag 12 good-sized bream and 1 tench.

Recent match weights on the Old Lake have also been excellent with quite a few 100lb nets reported in recent weeks. Whilst Warlingham and district AC did not quite manage to top the ton, Mick Biles came very close with a 77lb 5oz net of prime bream and skimmers, which he caught from peg 2 on feeder and maggot.

OLD BURY HILL & TEMPLE LAKE – CARP

Whilst the carp fishing tends to become harder during the extremely hot weather, the recent cool spell has certainly seen a marked improvement in catches with another three thirties reported from Temple this week along with some cracking twenties. The Old Lake has also responded to the cooler conditions with a number of anglers reporting multi bags of up to 20 fish, which included a few decent twenties.

With fish showing on all areas, catches this week on Temple have been well spread out with a variety of swims on both banks producing a fish or two. With most good baits working, boilies continue their come back with Cell boilies in particular seemingly catching very well. However, pop ups, zig rigs and popped up corn have also accounted for a few fish.

PLEASE NOTE: WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT, LEAD CORE IS BANNED ON BOTH TEMPLE AND THE OLD LAKE. PLEASE SEE RUSS OR KEN IN THE SHOP FOR FURTHER DETAILS.

Following on from last week’s bumper catches, the Old Lake saw another good weeks action with anglers again reporting multi bags of up 20 fish, which included a few decent twenties. With all areas producing a fish or two, PVA bags are clearly the way to go with any good bait working with old favorites such as Icelandic Red, Cell, Fusion, Maple 8 and KG1 giving anglers the edge!
This weeks catches…

Temple regular Ray Harding had a couple of brilliant sessions, which netted him four mirrors, a brace of thirties weighing 34lb and 32lb 10oz and a couple of good twenties weighing 27lb 9oz and 25lb 11oz. Fishing swims 3 and 9, Ray caught all his fish on Cell boilies which he fished to the island margins.

Tony Watson was another angler to well this week catching a 31lb 12oz mirror. Fishing the island bank, Tony also caught on Cell boilies, which he fished tight to the pads close to the island.

Other anglers to catch on Temple this week were Phil Cassidy from London who caught a cracking 27lb 1oz mirror on floating crust from peg 15.

Neal Hoare from Godalming also managed two fish during his mid week session, a 25lb 6oz mirror and 19lb 8oz common. Fishing swim 7, Neil caught from both the open water and island margins on a 14mm HBS Supa Stench boilie.

Mark Gibson from Croydon also managed a couple of fish during his session, a lovely 24lb 8oz mirror and 22lb 7oz common. Mark fished swim 2 catching from both the channel and island margin on Cell boilies.

Anglers on the Old Lake have also faired pretty well this week with quite a few multi bags reported which included some decent twenties. John Paine and Mike Craig shared a 24 fish haul from pegs 71 and 72 in the week. Fishing one-rod length off the island margins, the pair caught on 12mm Sticky Baits Bloodworm boilies which they fished over a matching pellet.

Hugh Neville from Houslow was another angler who did well on the Old Lake this week catching 16 fish which included a couple of nice twenties, a 25lb 11oz common and 23lb mirror. Hugh fished peg 31 catching on Cell boilies which he fished with PVA bags and chopped boilies.

BONDS LAKE

The non-stop carp action continued on Bonds this week with some hefty carp catches reported by anglers of all abilities with pleasure bags to well over 100lb and match nets to 80lb reported.

With all areas fishing well, feeder to the island margins seems to be working particularly well with pellet accounting for most of the fish. Saying that, both pole and float tactics are also accounting for good number of fish to low doubles with pellet and corn over pellet being the best baits.
This weeks catches…

Steve Dunne had a brilliant days sport mid week catching 26 carp to 11lb for a good 120lb bag. Fishing peg 6, Steve fished a small open feeder packed with Swim Stim groundbait to the island margins catching on soft 8mm pellet.

Recent matches on Bonds have also seen some good action and despite a still muggy day last Sunday, Feltham AC still managed a good numbers of weights over 40lb with a dozen anglers weighing in close to 500lb of fish. Alfie Burt won the day from peg 5 with a well-deserved 78lb 8oz net of carp, which he caught on a straight lead and 11mm pellet. Second was J Burt who bagged 69lb 8oz from peg 10 whilst Mike  Brett was third with 61lb, which he caught from peg 16.

MILTON LAKE

Milton also saw plenty of action with anglers bagging some impressive nets of tench and crucian along with good numbers of roach, rudd, bream and perch. With pole and float tactics both continuing to work well, worm, pellet, paste and maggot all continue to catch with both the pole line and margins accounting for plenty of fish.
This weeks catches…

Milton regular Rob Drasey bagged a big haul of tench and crucian midweek catching 60 plus crucian to 1lb 8oz and over 20 tench to 3lb plus a few bream for a good 80lb net. Rob fished peg 27 catching on open feeder with pellet, corn and red maggot all accounting for a few fish.

Woking v Epsom challenge match - 17th July 2010

Tight finish but Epsom just shade it

This 15 aside club v club match was held on our Milton Lake last Saturday with this Challenge Cup match being decided on combined weight. With the weather bright and sunny and not much wind around this was going to put the fish in a finicky mood so lighter presentation and accurate feeding was of more importance than normal.

Young Ryan Coates led the way for his Epsom teammates with a fine performance from peg 11. Using a small cage feeder cast tight over to the island Ryan had plenty of small mirrors and the odd common plus a few tench to boost his winning weight of 34lbs 2oz. Ryan’s colleague Mark Cane was next best from peg 21 where he pole fished his way to a level 28lbs of crucians, tench, roach and small carp. With soft hook pellet over feed pellet Mark kept a steady flow of fish in his net coming to help his side build up a good overall weight.

On nearby peg 26 G Whiting from Woking put up his team’s best effort with third place overall after securing a mixed bag weighing 25lbs 15oz on the long and short pole with pellets his main catching bait.

With all the weights recorded and totted up it was a close run thing with only 5lbs odd splitting the two teams?

Team result: Epsom Piscatorials 186lbs 15oz beat Woking DAA 181lbs 2oz by 5lbs 13oz
Individual result, top 6

1st Ryan Coates Epsom 34lbs 2oz

2nd Mark Cane Epsom 28lbs 0oz

3rd G. Whiting Woking 25lbs 15oz

4th Nick Furniaux Epsom 23lbs 4oz

5th P. Dilly Woking 22lbs 5oz

6th P. Dove Woking 22lbs 2oz
